Porsche Design P’9522 Cell Phone Hits the Euro Market

The all-new P’9522 is the result of yet another team-up between French cell-phone maker Sagem and Porsche Design. Even though its styling looks the product of a one-night stand between a Sony-Ericcson candybar and an iPhone, overall, the iPorsche err, we mean the P’9522 is pretty good looking. The candybar which is carved from an aluminum block also comes equipped with decent features like a 5 Megapixels digital camera, a large 2.8-inch touch screen, GPS, a WiFi connector and even a MicroSD fingerprint reader that allows users to be authenticated by fingerprints. -Continued

Oddly enough, the Sagem-developed P’9522 doesn’t come with 3G support but we doubt anyone will care. The Porsche-branded cell phone is expected to go on sale in France in November with other markets following shortly after. Justifying its Porsche name, the P’9522 will be priced in France at €600 or about $865 US.

Porsche Rewards Workers with €6,000 Bonus

Thousands of Porsche employees are to receive a €6,000 (US$ 8,750) bonus due to the company’s exceptional economic performance for the recently-concluded business year 2007/2008 that ended in July 31. The bonus that comes a year after a similar payment of €5,200 was made for the 2007 fiscal year will be given to each full-time employee who joined the firm prior to August 1, 2007. According to Porsche, €3,800 of this year’s bonus relates to the operative result, €700 is from financial transactions and €1,500 is in honor of Porsche’s 60th brithday. Porsche Tuner 9ff Release Sketches of Panamera Sedan

It’s only been a week since Porsche released a teaser image of its forthcoming Panamera partially revealing the vehicle’s front-end but tuners are already preparing to introduce their proposals for the sport sedan. One of the first tuning firms to announce that it is readying a series of performance and styling upgrades for the Panamera is 9ff, a German tuning firm that specializes on Porsche models. -Continued

Even though the Stuttgart-based automaker has yet to disclose pictures of its new sports sedan, the German tuner released a pair of teaser renderings showing the Panamera equipped with bespoke alloys and from what we gather, a light bodykit that includes side skirts and a rear diffuser with integrated dual exhaust pipes. If you're wondering how accurate these renderings may be, we reckon they're pretty close to the real thing.

Porsche Releases first Official Teaser Shot of Panamera Sedan

Even though we’re still a few months away from the official debut of the new Panamera, Porsche has rolled out the first teaser image of its long-awaited fourth model series that will join the 911, Boxster/Cayman and Cayenne. The cryptic photo shows that the four-door, four seat Panamera features a further evolution of Porsche's characteristic family face with tear-shaped headlamps and a pair of LED day time running lights incorporating the turn indicators.

According to the German automaker, the release of the teaser image coincides with the beginning of an advertising campaign for the sports sedan which includes the launch of the Panamera Online Magazine at porsche.com/panamera. The next phase of the advertising campaign will be on 20 October with double-page ads in leading news and business magazines, again offering a sneak preview of Porsche’s latest model. -Continued

The new Panamera sedan is expected to enter the market in early 2009 where it will be offered initially with naturally aspirated and turbocharged V8 engines followed by a smaller V6 gasoline unit. In late 2010 – early 2011, Porsche will also introduce the Panamera Hybrid featuring a full-hybrid design where the hybrid module (clutch and electric motor) is positioned between the combustion engine (presumably a V6 unit) and the transmission, while the battery pack will be located in the luggage compartment. The parallel hybrid system will allow the Panamera to operate with the gasoline engine, the electric motor or a combination of both.

2009 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia: Rally-Inspired Version

In celebration of the Cayenne S’ success at the ‘Transsyberia Rally’ that runs 7,200 km (4,460 miles) from Moscow, Russia all the way to the Mongolian Capital of Ulan Bator, Porsche decided to develop a limited edition version of its SUV that will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. Like the slightly modified Cayenne S vehicles that took the first six places at this year’s Transsyberia Rally, the special edition model is based on the Cayenne S but comes equipped with the Cayenne GTS’ more powerful 4.8-liter V8 that produces 405 HP at 6,500 rpm and maximum torque of 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) at 3,500 rpm. -Continued

The V8 engine is matted to a 6-speed manual gearbox carried over from the GTS but shortened by 15 percent to 4.1:1. Buyers can also opt for a six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. According to Porsche, the Cayenne S Transsyberia with the manual gearbox can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 6.1 seconds, 0.5 seconds faster than the Cayenne S while the interim sprint from 80 – 120 km/h in fifth gear is completed in 6.6 seconds, two seconds faster than the Cayenne S. The Transsyberia’s top speed 253 km/h or 158 mph.

On the outside the Cayenne S Transsyberia is distinguished by the four available color concepts including the rally combinations Black/Orange and Crystal Silver Metallic/Orange along with the more discreet color combos Black/Meteor Grey Metallic and Meteor Grey Metallic/Crystal Silver Metallic. With the exception of the Meteor Grey Metallic/Crystal Silver Metallic combo, the 18-inch Cayenne S II wheels come in each case in a contrasting color, as do the side plates on the air intake grid, the “Cayenne S Transsyberia” model designation (applied as a no-cost option at the side), the exterior mirror housings and the upper part of the extended roof spoiler with its double wing profile fixed in position.

Customers can also add the offroad roof headlights of the competition model as a no-cost option. The lights are placed in the vehicle upon delivery, since in Germany, at least, such headlights on the roof are not homologated for use on public roads.

Inside, the Transsyberia features ornamental trim on the dashboard and the doors, on the instruments and dials, the belts and foot mat surrounds comes in each case in the contrasting color chosen for the exterior. Finally, the steering wheel rim is padded and finished in alcantara while as an homage to motorsport, it also features a 12 o’clock mark in one of the contrasting colors.

The new Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia will hit Porsche dealerships in January 2009 with prices in the German market starting at 77,558 Euros.

Sportec SP750 with 750HP based on the Porsche 911 GT2

The latest product to come out of Sportec’s workhouse in Switzerland is called the SP750 and it’s based on the 911 GT2 (997). With the SP750, the Porsche 997 GT2’s standard 3.6-liter bi-turbo engine’s output has been improved by about 220 HP The massive increase in power has been achieved through the modified turbochargers and titanium con rods, sports camshafts, a reprogramming of the control unit as well as larger charge-air intercoolers. Sportec claims that the SP750 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes a mere 3.2 seconds (standard GT2: 3.7 sec) while the top speed lies somewhere beyond 350 km/h or 218 mph (standard GT2: 329 km/h or 205 mph). -Continued

To further improve driving dynamics, Sportec offers a set of 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/30 ZR20 tires up front and 325/25 ZR20 at the back along with the installation of a reinforced sports clutch. Sportec’s version of the GT2 can also be customised with aluminium pedals, floor mats, instrument dials and leather or alcantara applications.

Porsche Boxster S Design Edition 2 with 303HP

Along with the Cayman S Sport Porsche also revealed a limited production version of the Boxster S called “Porsche Design Edition 2”. Equipped with the same 303HP 3.4-liter boxer engine as the Cayman S Sport, the Boxster S Design Edition 2 stands out thanks to the “Carrara White” colour that’s combined with grey stripes. The 19-inch SportDesign alloys, the side air intakes, the centre console and the dials on the three round instruments are also finished in white. The white theme is complemented by the grey roof and the black leather interior. -Continued

Production of the Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 will amount to 500 units at a price in the German market of €65,539 which includes 19 per cent VAT and national specifications. Sales will begin in September.

Porsche Cayman Sport S 303HP: Official Photos and details

Following an online leak a couple of weeks ago Porsche took the wraps off the limited edition Cayman S Sport that will be produced in just 700 units. Based on the Cayman S, the Sport’s 3.4-liter boxer engine gains an extra 8 HP developing a total of 303 HP. Moreover, the Cayman S Sport comes equipped with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as standard along with a 10mm lower suspension and 5mm spacers beneath the new 19-inch SportDesign wheels.

On the outside Porsche was inspired from the 911 GT3 as the Cayman S Sport comes as standard in the GT3 colours Orange and Green combined with side decals and black rims, exterior mirrors and air intake grids. Further colours available are Black, Indian Red, Speed Yellow and Carrara White, as well as Arctic Silver Metallic. -Continued

Inside the Sport features an all-black interior with sport seats and alcantara finish on the gearshift lever, the handbrake, and the rim of the GT3 steering wheel. As with all Porsche special edition versions, the Sport bears the production number on a placard on the glove box.

The Cayman S Sport will be available from September with prices in Germany set at €69,942 which includes 19 per cent VAT and national specifications.

Teen Obliterates Porsche Carrera GT During Prom Night

This wreck of a Porsche Carrera GT was snapped by a reader of our Jalopnik pals sitting on a truck cargo bed in an Atlanta-area parking lot. The driver of the truck that made a pit stop at the parking lot after bringing the car from Miami claimed the Carrera GT was destroyed by a teenage driver during prom night. Apparently some light headed dad thought that lending a powerful supercar like the Porsche Carrera GT to a teenage kid on prom night sounded like a really cool idea. Porsche Cayman S 314 Hp Tuned by Inden Design

While we’re still waiting for Porsche to officially reveal the more powerful Cayman S Sport, the German tuning firm “Inden Design” presented a new sports kit for the Cayman S model. Thanks to a new exhaust system, the Cayman S 3.4-liter boxer engine’s output is raised by 19Hp delivering a total of 314 Hp. According to Inden Design, the flaps of the exhaust systems are operated together with a control unit. A small microprocessor, which is freely programmable, is embedded in this system. The sports kit also includes new H&R height adjustable coil overs and a set of bespoke 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/35 R19 rubber on the front and 305/25 R19 at the rear. -Photo gallery after the jump

2009 Porsche 911 Targa Facelift – Official Photos and Details

The covers are off the revised glass-roofed Porsche 911 Targa that will make its way into the market this autumn. As with the rest of the facelifted 911 range, the most important news is under the bonnet as the Targa, which is only available with four-wheel-drive, gets two new power units with direct fuel injection. More specifically, the Targa 4 is powered by a 3.6-litre flat-six developing 345 Hp (+20 Hp) giving the car a top speed of 284 km/h while the 911 Targa 4S gets a 3.8-litre unit developing 385 Hp (+30 Hp) that can accelerate it on to a top speed of 297 km/h.

Like the rest of the revised 911s, the new Targa 4 and 4S are available for the first time with Porsche’s new 7-speed double-clutch gearbox. With the dual-clutch gearbox the 3.6-litre Targa 4 accelerates to 62mph (100km/h) in exactly 5.0 secs (manual: 5.2 secs) while the Targa 4S, in 4.7 secs (manual 4.9 secs). -Continued

The visual highlight of the 911 Targa remains the 1.54-square metre glass roof that’s made up of two segments, the sliding roof above the occupants and the top-hinged tailgate.

As with the second generation 911 models series overall, the 2009 911 Targa models are distinguished by the subtle design changes of the nose and tail and the use of LED daytime driving lights. Like the four-wheel-drive 911 Carrera 4 and 4S models, the Targa 4 and 4S also get a 44mm, or 1.73”, wider rear-end along with a new reflective trim that spans the width between the LED rear lights.

When you’re the Prince of Anhalt (yes, we were tempted to play around with that word…), Duke of Saxony and Westphalia, Count of Askania as well as being the “King” of the tabledance club chain “Pure Platinum”, you can afford to be happy even when you destroy a supercar like the Gemballa Porsche Carrera GT on a race track.
