Dream Exhibition in Torino – A Car Aficionado’s Paradise

“Dream” is an Italian exhibition about production vehicles and concept cars that were designed by automobile companies, coachbuilders and freelance studios located in and around the historic city of Torino from the 1950s to today. The show opened its gates to the public on September 19 and it will run until November 23, 2008 at the Giovanni Agnelli’s Pavilion in Torino. According to the organizers, the exhibition that is dedicated to the memory of the late Andrea Pininfarin, hosts 54 one-off examples and hundreds of design objects including scale models, sketches, drawings and various projects. -Continued

Historical exhibitions at the Dream Show include the Ghia Gilda Streamline X Coupe, the Pininfarina Modulo and the more modern Maserati Birdcage concept. As for the BMW ZX6 concept you see in the picture below, it was designed by third year students of the Istituto Europeo di Design of Turin (IED), Jai-Ho Yoo and Lukas Vanek in collaboration with the Bavarian automaker. According to IED, the concept was selected by the Organizing Committee as the exhibition’s primary communication picture.

Classic Maserati Models at Goodwood Revival Meeting

Maserati made a strong presence at the Goodwood Revival meeting in England this past weekend with a total of 13 classic cars including two 4CMs and two Tipo 61 Birdcages taking part in the classic race. Away from the track, the famous Italian marque exhibited a selection of both modern and classic Maseratis with the highlight being a display of all its Quattroporte models from the very first Quattroporte of the 1960’s and the exceptionally rare Quattroporte II of the 1970s, of which only 12 were ever built, to the more modern Quattroporte IV and the latest 2009 Quattroporte S. -Continued

Ferrambo up for sale on eBay for more than $500,000!

A couple of weeks ago we told you that the brainchild of Mike Warn and Tim Divers of Divers Street Rods, the Ferrambo, was up for sale on GP Imports for an undisclosed price. For those of you wondering what kind of money would get you behind the wheel of this custom made model that combines the body of a 1960 Nash Rambler Wagon with a Ferrari 360 V8 powertrain, we can now inform you that you’ll need more than $500,000 or €352,000 to sit your buttocks on its leather seats. -Continued

How do we know? Well, GP Imports has enlisted the Ferrambo on eBay and the first bid, $500,000, hasn’t met reserve. In eBay terminology, a reserve price is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for the item. There’s still six days left before the deadline on September 21, so we’ll keep a close eye on the bidding to see if the there’s someone out there willing to offer more than half a million dollars to obtain this one-off vehicle. Rejected James Bond Movie Jaguar XKE up for Sale

A custom made 1972 Jaguar XKE that was built with the intent to star in a late 1970’s James Bond movie but never actually made it on the big screen, has been put up for sale on eBay. The vehicle is from the Bob Butts movie car collection in California and according to the seller, it is equipped with a 289ci V8 Ford Cobra engine. The starting price for the ’72 Jag that is not road legal has been set at $13,000. The question is what would someone actually do with a car like this? -Continued

Alfa Romeo GTV with Ford Mustang V8 Powertrain – Why?

Here’s a lesson from chapter 11 of the ‘Book of Mullets’ on how to destroy one of the European automotive legends, the awesome mid-70’s Alfa Romeo GT Veloce. First of all, exchange the Alfa’s nimble 4-cylinder engine for a gaudy 5.0-liter V8 Ford Mustang drivetrain. Who needs a well balanced coupe when you can have the V8 power of a Mustang? Now that you’ve made the engine swap, time to go ahead and show everyone that bad taste has no limits. Wonder where we should start from; the side exhaust pipes, the reversed rear wing posing as a front spoiler, the hoodscoop, the mid-80’s Mustang alloy wheels or the faux Ferrari tail-lights? -Continued

Ferrambo: Ferrari Powered 1960 Rambler Wagon up for Sale

Remember the custom-made 1960 Nash Rambler Wagon with the Ferrari 360 drivetrain that we first told you about a year ago (see here)? Well, after grabbing this year's desirable Riddler street rod award at the 2008 Detroit Autorama, the owners of the car, Tim Divers from Divers Street Rods and Mike Warn, decided to depart with the Ferrambo and put it up for sale on GP Imports. Although there’s no specific asking price, we gather that this one-of-a-kind street rod isn’t won’t come cheap. -Continued

The Ferrambo was created by combining a custom-made body from 1960 Nash Rambler Wagon with a rear-mounted 3.6-liter V8 engine matted to a 6-speed manual gearbox that came out of a 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena Donor car. Tim Divers and Mike Warn also completely overhauled the Rambler’s interior giving it a Ferrari-look. Other modifications include the Ferrari Unequal Wishbone front and rear suspension, the one-off machined 18x8.5 front and 20x10 rear wheels and an ultra cool custom luggage style trunk under the hood.
